MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A 39-year-old pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, authorities said Saturday.

Lt. Matthew Squire of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station says the incident occurred about 8:50 p.m. Friday near Malibu Canyon Road.

Squire said that authorities believe the suspect was possibly driving under the influence or distracted.

“The vehicle was described as an older model Honda red in color. We don’t have any further vehicle description,” Sheriff’s Lt. Patrick Mathers told KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz.

The sheriff’s department says the vehicle’s right rear-view mirror was severed in the crash.

Investigators believe the unidentified victim may have been thrown over the hood or roof of the vehicle.

The victim was transported to UCLA Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to contact the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station at (310) 456-6652. All tips can be made anonymously.
