Man, 27, Sentenced To Life In 2007 Murder Of 74-Year-Old Woman

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — A 27-year-old man Friday was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility to parole for the 2007 murder and attempted rape of a 74-year-old woman.

Kenneth Daniels Jr. of San Jacinto was convicted in August of 12 felonies, including one count of murder, for a series of crimes committed between late August and December 2007 at the Oak Terrace Senior Apartments on North Santa Fe Street.

On Aug. 21, 2007, Daniels broke into a 64-year-old woman's apartment and raped her, police said. He returned and committed the same crime Oct. 19, 2007.

Apartment management staff found Rosemarie Edwin beaten and murdered inside her apartment on Dec. 13, 2007 after a delivery person noticed a package had not been retrieved from her doorway.

Two weeks later, Daniels was arrested when a third woman called police when he attempted to break in.

Investigators found his DNA at all three crime scenes.
