Man, 22, Charged In Deadly Attack At Huntington Beach Apartment

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 22-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of a man at a Huntington Beach apartment.

The Orange County District Attorney's office said in a department statement that Rito Samuel Tejeda of Santa Ana was charged Friday with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.

Tejeda is accused of fatally stabbing 51-year-old Frederick Sledge before allegedly making off on foot.

Just before noon on Wednesday, an off-duty officer spotted Tejeda allegedly covered in blood and walking on Delaware Street and Knoxville Avenue.

After alerting authorities, arriving officers discovered the deceased at a nearby apartment.

Authorities say they also located Tejeda who was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of superficial wounds.

Tejeda is being held on $1 million bail. He is expected to be arraigned on Nov. 22.

Tejada faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted.
