Around The NFL: Browns Change QBs, Redskins Ban Shortened, Cowboys Could Go To London

Changes happen in the NFL all the time. It just takes some teams longer to realize that very fact sometimes. The Cleveland Browns have finally realized that it is time to just about give up on Brandon Weeden. The NFL realized quickly that the two-game ban of Brandon Meriweather was too long. Finally, the Dallas Cowboys will be changing venues - and continents - for a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Browns replace Brandon Weeden with Jason Campbell

Brandon Weeden got the chance at the start of the season. Weeden then got another chance after Brian Hoyer went down with an injury, but he proved to be ineffective yet again. His time appears to be up in Cleveland and the Browns are giving the starting spot to Jason Campbell.

Campbell will be the 20th quarterback to start for the Browns since 1999, so the futility has been there for a long time. Unfortunately for him though, his first start in Cleveland will be against the top pass-rushing team in the league in the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs have 35 sacks already this season and Campbell may be a bit rusty, but it is obviously a better choice than who has been in there. The Brandon Weeden experiment in Cleveland appears to have finally come to its end.

Brandon Meriweather gets his suspension reduced from two games to one

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather received a two-game suspension for some illegal hits against the Chicago Bears this past Sunday, but he has gotten the ban reduced to one game. That one-game ban will be without pay. Meriweather had his appeal heard on Wednesday and he will be forced to sit out Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

During the game with Chicago, Meriweather receive two personal fouls. One flag was for launching himself at Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall and the other was for a helmet-to-helmet hit on receiver Alshon Jeffery.

Marshall believes that "guys like that, maybe he needs to get suspended or taken out of the game completely." Bears tight end Martellus Bennett went on the air to speak about Meriweather and said, "I still want to punch him in the face."

The Dallas Cowboys could face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London next year

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a deal in place to play a home game a year over in London, but all of their opponents aren't known just yet. This Sunday, the Jaguars are going to face off with the San Francisco 49ers at Wembley Stadium, and it looks as if their opponent for next season may already be in place as well.

Word is that the Dallas Cowboys are currently the leading candidate to head to London in 2014 and face off with the Jaguars. The NFL wants to finalize the plans now and have the game in place as soon as possible.
