Queen Chosen For Pasadena's 125th Rose Parade

PASADENA (AP) — The Tournament of Roses has named a 17-year-old student to be queen of next year's Rose Parade.

Ana Marie Acosta was crowned Thursday in Pasadena. She was chosen from among seven princesses after a monthlong process that involved a pool of more than 900 applicants. The Altadena resident and her court will preside at the 125th parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena and at the 100th Rose Bowl game that follows.

Acosta attends Polytechnic School in Pasadena. City News Service says she is captain of the school's varsity equestrian team and wants to become a surgeon specializing in neurology.
