New Policy Prohibits Tour Bus Companies From Sidewalk Vending

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — City leaders Monday announced a new policy that prohibits the solicitation and sale of tour bus tickets on city sidewalks.

Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell led a walking tour of Hollywood Boulevard at 10 a.m. before distributing information to tour bus operators about the new ordinance.

"A lot of tourists who have had a bad experience will complain to the Chamber of Commerce," O'Farrell said.

For years, tour bus operators were exempt from the regulation, which forbids people from doing business on city property.

The Tour Bus Ordinance, which was unanimously approved in September, removes that exemption and aims at improving pedestrian experience.

"They just get crazy here," one tourist told CBS2's Dave Lopez.

O'Farrell also discussed the launch of a series of initiatives geared toward creating an even safer area.
