Woman Suspected In Hit-And-Run Accused Of DUI With Kids In Car

PALM DESERT (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, hit-and-run, and drunken driving following a collision in Palm Desert.

Marcella Monique Garza of Palm Desert was taken into custody without incident early Saturday evening, according to a statement posted on the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's website.

Garza is accused of leaving the scene of a collision involving her newer model Toyota Corolla. The incident occurred about 6:27 p.m. Saturday at E. Hovley Lane and Oasis Club Drive.

Police said that after the crash, the person who called authorities followed the car and witnessed it run two red lights, the statement said.

Garza was eventually located in the 72600 block of Fred Waring Drive, according to police.

"The investigation revealed that there were two children inside the vehicle during the incident," the statement said.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call Officer C. Rogers with the Palm Desert Police Department at (760) 836-1600.
