Coroner ID's Man Who Reportedly Tried To Outrun Train In Palmdale
PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A coroner's official Sunday identified a bicyclist who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Palmdale.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Manuel Correa of Palmdale, was killed Saturday evening at the Palmdale Boulevard crossing that intersects with Sierra Highway.
Palmdale Sheriff's deputies believe the victim was trying to outrun the train at the time of the accident.
A witness says Correa was riding with a group of friends at the time of the accident, which was reported just after 7 p.m.
No one aboard the train was injured.
An investigation is under way.
