PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A man riding a bicycle was struck by a Metrolink train Saturday evening in Palmdale.

The accident occurred at Palmdale Boulevard and Sierra Highway around 7 p.m.

The victim was trying to beat the train, according to authorities.

The name of the deceased was withheld pending notification of his family.

Officials said Metrolink passengers in the area should expect delays.
