TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — A woman gave birth inside a Barnes & Noble bookstore Friday evening in Torrance.

The woman was joined by other customers and store employees in welcoming her new baby boy.

Mother and baby are both reportedly doing well.

The bookstore is located at the Del Amo Fashion Center, at 21500 Hawthorne Boulevard.

Someone who apparently witnessed the incident tweeted about it shortly before 8 p.m.:

“Our firefighters responded to a call of a woman in labor at the book store,” said Steve Deuel, Torrance Fire Department Captain. “They were getting her ready to load up into the ambulance when they discovered the baby wasn’t going to wait. So they unloaded her and delivered the baby boy in the store’s lobby.”
