When you’re out and about driving around the Los Angeles city streets and find that you have an appetite to satisfy, why not fill up on a LA original? Philippe’s The Original is known for its innovative “French Dipped Sandwich.” The dipped sandwich came about as an accident when the founder accidentally dropped a sandwich he was making for a policeman into a pan filled with meat juice. The officer came back the next day and wanted another one of these “accidents,” and the rest is history. You can get this specialty in roast beef, roast pork, leg of lamb, turkey or ham served on a baked and dipped French roll. Topped with cheese, and your favorite things, this meal is unforgettable. If French dips are not your thing, there are many other delicious menu items to fill up on. The cafe also serves up a delicious breakfast complete with pancake stacks and omelets, or opt for salad and soup at lunch time.
The drive through the city can be pleasant if you’re not in a hurry, so enjoy the views as you weave up to the Chinatown area where Philippe’s is located. When you’re tooling around town be sure to take a vehicle that is both fun to drive and beautiful to admire. A 2014 E400 Hybrid Sport Sedan from Mercedes-Benz of Encino gets great gas milage while also representing the best in luxury and performance.
