Though Not In Its Former Glory, A Visit To Crystal Lake Still Worthwhile
By Nicole Cormier
Though the lake is not what it once was, Crystal Lake in the San Gabriel Mountains is still a worthwhile trip, and at only 1.33 miles, it’s a suitable hike for the whole family. The paved trail only gains about 150 feet in elevation, and though it’s not as full or as clear as it can be during times of high rain, Crystal Lake is still a natural occurrence worth visiting. This naturally occurring lake, the only of its kind in the San Gabriel Mountains, is full of rainbow trout, so be sure to bring your poles, if you have them. After visiting the lake, grab a bite to eat at the Crystal Lake Cafe, and Trading Post and if you feel like camping in the area, there are campsites available for a minimal fee.
Make your way through the San Gabriel Mountains and to Crystal Lake Trail in a vehicle that will comfortably house your entire family while also affording the driver with a great drive. The 2013 S600 Sedan from Mercedes-Benz of Encino is not a typical family sedan, the luxurious amenities and expert handling make it so much more.
