Man's Body Found On Street In Orange

ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday were investigating the death of a man whose body was found on a street in Orange.

The body of a 37-year-old Hispanic man was discovered around 6:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Tustin Street between Collins and Quincy avenues, Orange police Sgt. Fred Lopez said.

A Good Samaritan stopped in the street to block other drivers from hitting the body, according to police.

Authorities say the victim, who suffered massive head trauma, was homeless and lived nearby.

It was unclear if the man was involved in a hit-and-run, but according to friends, he was struck by a vehicle. He had reportedly planned on meeting up with his girlfriend after one of them went to a Stater Bros. store early Tuesday morning.

"When I heard the sirens, I went over and saw my friend on the ground and from what I understand he got hit by a truck and the truck didn't stop," one man said.

The victim's name was withheld pending family notification.

The investigation was ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident was asked to contact police at (714)744-7444.
