Former Doctor-Turned-Comedian Raises Awareness About Rheumatoid Arthritis

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — Matt Iseman, former doctor turned standup comedian and actor, stopped by KCAL9 Tuesday to raise awareness about rheumatoid arthritis!

After Iseman left his career in medicine to pursue his passion for comedy, he started physically deteriorating. It took a year and a half to receive a correct diagnosis because RA can be difficult to detect.

Iseman teamed up with CreakyJoints, an advocacy organization and arthritis support community that focuses on raising awareness and helping patients improve the quality of life through educational programs, supportive social media, smartphone apps and in-person events.

The autoimmune disease affects 1.3 million people in the United States.
