MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Two firefighters were injured Monday while battling an apartment fire at the Los Angeles/Ventura county line.

The two-alarm fire was reported just before 9:00 a.m. at the Whaler’s Village complex located at 11770 Whalers Lane, the Ventura County Fire Department said.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a second floor unit engulfed and could not make entry into the building.

The fire was contained to the sole unit and was knocked down by 9:53 a.m., officials said. A dog died in the blaze.

The injured firefighters were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

The VFD was assisted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
