Wrongway Driver In 14 Freeway Pileup Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison

SAN FERNANDO (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge today imposed the maximum sentence on a 54-year-old Santa Clarita man who admitted he was driving under the influence when he drove the wrong way during rush hour traffic and crashed into several cars.

Judge Michael O'Gara sentenced Rick Allen Walker to seven years in state prison.

Walker pleaded no contest on August 19 to four counts of DUI causing injury.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Walker was driving the wrong way on the northbound Highway 14 on June 17, 2013 when he crashed into several vehicles.

Four people were seriously injured in the collisions, prosecutors said.

Deputy District Attorney Ani Bailey of the San Fernando Branch Office prosecuted the case, investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
