Lamar Odom Pleads Not Guilty To DUI Charge

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — NBA star Lamar Odom pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence stemming from his August arrest.

Odom's attorney, Richard Hutton, entered the plea on his behalf as he did not appear for his arraignment at the Van Nuys Courthouse.

The former Los Angeles Laker and Clipper forward was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in the early morning hours of Aug. 30 after officers noticed him driving slowly and weaving in lanes.

The CHP pulled the 33-year-old over around 3:25 a.m. after he exited the freeway at Coldwater Canyon Boulevard in Studio City. He was arrested after he showed "objective signs or symptoms of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained," Officer Ming Hsu said.

During booking, Odom refused all chemical tests and, as a result, had his driver's license suspended for one year under state law.

Odom was released after posting $15,000 bail.

In recent weeks, TMZ reported that he has been suffering from an alleged drug addiction.

Odom is currently a free agent after spending the 2012-13 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he shot .399 from the field and racked up 330 points.

The 14-year NBA veteran played power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers between 2004 and 2011, winning championships in 2009 and 2010.

Odom won the NBA's sixth Man of the Year award in 2011.

A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 8.
