1 Killed, Several Injured In 8-Car Pileup In Fullerton

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed and several others were injured in an eight-car pileup near a Fullerton intersection Thursday.

Fullerton police responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Valencia Mesa Drive at 4 p.m.

The driver of a yellow pick-up truck traveling in the wrong direction reportedly swerved into lanes on Harbor before striking the other vehicles in front of St. Jude Medical Center, police said.

The driver, who was killed in the crash, was identified as 57-year-old Adrian Davis of Brea, according to the Orange County Coroner's office.

Witnesses working nearby heard the crash from inside.

"It sounded like a huge explosion. In fact, I thought maybe a bomb went off," said Todd Dowgialo, who added that the truck flipped over and flew into the air about as high as the streetlight.

"I looked over at the truck and all I could see was just an arm hanging out of the truck," he said. "There was no life, no motion, you didn't even hear anything."

Five people were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.

An investigation was ongoing.
