Ontario Motorcycle Officer Injured In Collision With Big Rig

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — An Ontario police officer was severely injured Tuesday morning after his motorcycle collided with a big rig.

The accident happened around 7:10 a.m. on Archibald Avenue, just north of the 60 Freeway, Ontario police said.

The officer was thrown from his bike following the collision and was transported via helicopter to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"The officer is a 17 year veteran with the Ontario Police Department. He is currently assigned to the Traffic Division and holds the rank of Corporal," Det. Bill Russell said.

His identity was not released.

The driver of the big rig, identified only as a 43-year-old man from Newhall, was not injured.

The cause of the accident was under investigation. It was unclear who was at fault.
