AP Source: USC AD Pat Haden Expected To Be On BCS Playoff Panel

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California athletic director Pat Haden, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long and Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich are expected to be members of the committee that will chose the four teams that will play for the national championship when the College Football Playoff starts in 2014.

A person with knowledge of the process told The Associated Press that the three ADs were expected to be part of the 12-18 member panel being put together by conference commissioners. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the committee members were still being finalized.

The committee is expected to be comprised of current athletic directors, along with former college football players, coaches and administrators, and former media members.

Through spokesmen, Haden and Radakovich declined to comment. Long did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CBS.com has reported that Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez and West Virginia AD Oliver Luck also are expected to be on the committee.

BCS executive director Bill Hancock has said the commissioners likely will have the 12-to-18 member panel completed by the end of this season.

"We will announce all the members when the members are all in place and we continue to make very good progress," Hancock said.

Haden is a former USC quarterback (1973-75), who also played for the Los Angeles Rams. He became athletic director at USC in 2010, taking over for Mike Garrett after the Trojans football program was hit with severe NCAA sanctions. He also worked for years in television, as game analyst for NBC's Notre Dame coverage and Fox's BCS coverage.

Long has been the Arkansas AD since 2008 after holding the same position at Pittsburgh.

Radakovich took over at Clemson in 2012 after a six-year stint as Georgia Tech's athletic director.
