Firefighter Burned While Battling Blaze In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) —  A firefighter suffered second degree burns to his ears, neck and knees Sunday while battling a house fire in Long Beach.

Paramedics rushed the firefighter to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

He was then transferred to the Southern California Regional Burn Center, where he was treated and released, according to a department statement.

Firefighters had been dispatched at approximately 6 a.m. to the house fire in the 2400 block of Roswell Avenue, where the occupant of the home and his dog were able to escape without injury, according to the statement.

A cause of the fire and damage estimates were under investigation.
