1 Hurt In Gas Explosion At Moreno Valley Bakery

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said one person was hurt in a gas explosion at a Moreno Valley bakery.

The Riverside County Fire Department said in a statement that the explosion was reported about 7:08 a.m. in a unit of the single-story shopping center in the 13300 block of Perris Boulevard.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported no smoke or fire.

Firefighters said the gas explosion caused the front windows of the business to break and a water pipe to leak into an adjacent business, however.

The statement says there were four people inside the structure at the time.

All were evaluated by paramedics on scene but one patient, who was reported injured, declined treatment or transport.

Authorities said the gas explosion was reportedly the result of an oven malfunction.

No further information was available.
