Small Brush Fire Erupts On Hillside In San Juan Capistrano

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Saturday were battling a small brush fire in San Juan Capistrano.

The fire erupted about 10:45 a.m. on a hillside by the 29200 block of Camino Capistrano, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

Concialdi said the fire was expected to remain under two acres. Approximately 75 firefighters and two water-dropping helicopters were dispatched to the firefight.

"There are some homes above that hillside. Our helicopters are doing an excellent job in keeping the fire from these homes," Concialdi said.

No evacuations have been issued.

The fire reportedly began in an orchard just south of the 5 Freeway interchange with Route 73.
