LA Firefighters Rescue Pair Of Hikers In Santa Monica Mountains

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles firefighters have plucked a pair of hikers from the San Monica Mountains and flown them to safety after one stumbled and slid several feet down the mountainside.

City News Service reports a man and woman were hiking above Will Rogers State Beach when the woman lost her footing. She and her companion were able to call 911 for help.

Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the two had hiked about six miles when the woman slipped.

The pair were airlifted to safety, where the woman was treated by paramedics for lacerations to her legs.

Neither hiker was hospitalized.
