Walk To End Lupus Now!

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Actress and entertainer Tichina Arnold visited the KCAL9 studios Wednesday to talk about the upcoming Walk to End Lupus Now event.

The walk, which takes place this Saturday, supports Arnold's sister and estimated 1.5 million Americans living with lupus.

Walk to End Lupus Now™ -America's largest lupus Walk- are conducted nationwide by the Lupus Foundation of America and its national network to raise money for lupus research, increase awareness of lupus, and rally public support for those who suffer from its brutal impact.

Lupus can strike anyone at any time, but 90 percent of the people living with lupus are women. Women of color are at especially high risk. It usually develops between ages 15 and 44, and lasts a lifetime.

Despite the widespread prevalence of lupus, research on the disease has remained underfunded, relative to its scope and devastation.

Only one drug has ever been developed and approved specifically to treat the disease.
