Man Arrested After Mother, 80, Found Lying In Urine On Bathroom Floor

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A Costa Mesa man accused of leaving his 80-year-old mother on a bathroom floor for two days has been jailed on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and elder abuse.

Robert Dickerman, 47, was arrested Tuesday, nearly 15 months after his mother, Yoshiko Dickerman, died of sepsis at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital, where she was transported after police found her lying in a puddle of urine.

Costa Mesa police Sgt. Ed Everett told City News Service authorities arrived to the woman's residence at 938 Azalea Drive about 2:20 a.m. on July 3, 2012 to a report of a combative woman.

Dickerman reportedly told investigators he had been caring for his mother since 2001 and that she was injured when she had fallen off a toilet two days prior.

He claimed he left her there after she refused his help.

She died the following day.

Dickerman is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
