LOMA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — A 28-year-old mother has been accused of abusing her 17-week-old son.

Shira Hart, of San Bernardino, was arrested Monday and booked for attempted murder. She’s being held on $1 million bail.

Hart’s baby boy was admitted to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Sept. 11 for breathing problems, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

While the suspect was visiting, the victim stopped breathing several times and required resuscitation.

Detectives from Crimes Against Children Detail, who were contacted by hospital staff, determined that Hart had assaulted the baby.

The investigation is ongoing.
