Man Killed In Venice Hit-And-Run

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday were investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

The crash happened around midnight near the intersection of Lincoln and Venice boulevards in Venice.

Witnesses told police the man darted into the intersection and was hit by a black Toyota Prius driven by a White female.

"I saw this homeless guy run at an angle into the intersection . . . I don't think he (the driver) could see the homeless guy," witness Bruce Bauer said.

The 33-year-old victim was believed to be a transient, authorities said.

Police announced late Friday that an anonymous web-tip led to the arrest of 33-year-old Kara Kiehle of Venice.

She was arrested at her residence in the 500 block of Realto Court. She was booked under the charge of Hit-and-Run Fatal at LAPD Valley Jail and is being held on $50,000 bail.
