Arizona Woman Accused Of Poisoning Her 2 Children Charged With Murders

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — An Arizona woman accused of killing her two children in a Santa Ana hotel room before attempting to commit suicide was charged with two counts of murder Monday.

Marilyn Edge, 42, of Scottsdale was taken into custody and booked on two counts of murder Saturday afternoon in connection with the deaths of her two children, 13-year-old Jaelen and 10-year-old Faith.

She is accused of poisoning the children before attempting suicide by driving her silver Honda Accord toward an electrical vault in the parking lot of Albertsons in Costa Mesa.

She was charged Monday with two counts of murder and special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder by poison, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Edge allegedly directed officers to the Hampton Inn & Suites about 9 a.m. Saturday when police were called to the scene of the car accident. She was taken to a Newport Beach hospital where she was treated and released before being booked on suspicion of murder, according to Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Police found the bodies of the 13-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl in the third floor hotel room. Autopsies of the two children were completed Monday but results have not been released, according to Bertagna .

The children were reportedly due to be returned to their father, a Georgia resident, over the weekend. Mark Edge, the suspect's ex-husband, had custody of the children.

Edge is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
