Arizona Woman Accused Of Murdering Her 2 Kids Identified

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday released the name of a woman accused of murdering her two children whose bodies were found inside a Santa Ana hotel room.

Marilyn Edge, 42, of Scottsdale, Ariz. was taken into custody and booked on two counts of murder on Saturday afternoon in connection with the deaths of her two children, described only as a 13-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl.

Edge allegedly directed officers to the Hampton Inn & Suites about 9 a.m. after police say she apparently tried to kill herself by driving her car toward an electrical vault in Costa Mesa.

When Edge was pulled from the car, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says she told officers about the children.

Edge was subsequently taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released before being booked on suspicion of murder.

Further identifying information about the children was withheld pending notification of next of kin. It's still unclear how the children were killed.

Police were also uncertain about what Edge was doing in Southern California. Authorities said the vehicle she was found in had Georgia license plates.

No further information was immediately available.
