Helicopter En Route To La Verne Brush Fire Makes Unexpected Landing In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — A possible mechanical failure Friday prompted a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter to make an unexpected landing in Sylmar.

The helicopter was en route to a brush fire in the city of La Verne about 1 p.m. when it made the precautionary landing on a hillside in the 11000 block of Little Tujunga Road.

The chopper appeared to be fully intact, according to aerial footage.

Portions of the helicopter were expected to be removed in order to allow crews to transport the chopper via trailer for repairs.

No injuries were reported.
