Leaking Pipe Causes Partial Roof Collapse At Sherman Oaks Apartment Complex

SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — A leaking pipe in a Sherman Oaks apartment complex Thursday afternoon caused the ceilings of some units to collapse.

Sky9's Stu Mundel reported that Los Angeles City fire crews were initially called to the building in the 4500 block of Woodman Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m. to deal with a flooding problem.

While they were trying to contain the water, the roofs fell on some units on the third floor.

No injuries were reported, but 18 residents were displaced due to the incident.

The building will be inspected by Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety personnel.
