DUARTE (CBSLA.com) — Duarte High School and Northview Intermediate School were placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

A person claiming to be a student with a gun called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department just before 2 p.m. and threatened to use the firearm on the campus of Duarte High School, according to KCAL9’s Derek Bell.

The school was subsequently placed on lockdown and students were being told to shelter in place, but they may soon be moved off campus.

A sheriff’s helicopter could be seen circling over the high school.

No injuries have been reported.

No other details were immediately available.

Parents can obtain school updates at (626) 599-5036.
