CORONA DEL MAR (CBSLA.com) — A man has been hailed as a hero after he stopped a burning truck from slamming into a mattress store in Corona del Mar.

Brian Lee said he saw the vehicle rolling downhill toward Orange County Mattress on East Pacific Coast Highway Tuesday.

A firefighter threw an extinguisher in its path, but that didn’t slow the truck.

Lee grabbed a 20-pound concrete doorstop, ran up to the truck and shoved the doorstop under a tire.

“We have a doorstop that’s big and concrete, so I had to place it there, and it caught that big wheel. ‘Cause that was a big truck,” he said.

Lee said he didn’t even realize the runaway truck was on fire.
