Celebrate Mexican Independence Day At Las Ventanas Al Paraiso!

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — Mexican Independence Day is coming up!

Chef Fabrice Guisset of Las Ventanas al Paraiso stopped by KCAL9 Friday to show viewers how the holiday is celebrated in Mexico!

How Mexican Independence Day is Celebrated in Mexico:

•             Mexican Independence Day is a major celebration in Mexico and is actually much bigger than Cinco de Mayo.

•             The fiesta begins night of Sept. 15, when crowds of people gather in zocalos [town meeting places] throughout Mexico's cities, towns and villages, and decorate the square in the colors of Mexico's flag- red, white and green.

•             At 11:00 p.m., the town leader yells the famous "Grito de Delores" battle cry – "Viva Mexico" and "Viva La Independencia" – and the crowd echoes back.

•             The party continues throughout Sept. 16 with parades, feasts and even more fiestas.
