Woman Found Shot To Death Under Newport Beach Bridge Was New Mother

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — The woman found dead under the Bay Bridge in Newport Beach on Labor Day was identified as 28-year-old Nancy Hammour, according to the Coroner's Division of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

An autopsy done Wednesday showed she died from a single gunshot wound.

A family friend of Hammour said the victim was a new mother who most recently was renting a home in Santa Ana. Her Facebook page lists Hammour as "in a complicated relationship" and features photos of her baby boy.

The victim's sister also reportedly lives in Santa Ana and was devastated by the news of her death Tuesday evening, according to the family friend.

Hammour was reportedly found lying face down around 8:45 a.m. under the Bay Bridge at Pacific Coast Highway and Bayside Drive Monday.

Some employees of a nearby kayak rental business saw the victim from a distance, and said blood was visible on the pavement and railing on Pacific Coast Highway.

The death is being investigated as a homicide.
