IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Police shot a suspect Tuesday morning while serving a search warrant at an Orange County apartment complex that was under construction.

Irvine Police Department detectives were trying to serve a warrant related to lewd conduct with a child around 10:40 a.m. in the 100 block of Crested Bird, officials said.

“Detectives contacted a suspect in a vehicle, just outside a leasing office. At the time of the contact, there was an officer-involved shooting,” Lt. Julia Engen told KNX 1070’s Mike Landa.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. His identity was not released.

No officers were injured.
