Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Buena Park Hit-And-Run

BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — A motorcyclist was critically injured early Tuesday morning during  hit-and-run accident in Orange County.

The accident happened around 12:20 a.m. at Orangethroppe and Knott avenues in Buena Park, police said.

The unidentified motorcyclist was heading northbound on Knott Avenue when a black or dark grey Chevy Silverado with tinted windows ran a red light while traveling eastbound on Orangethrope, according to witnesses.

"The motorcyclist saw that the truck was not gonna stop, so he hit the brakes and the motorcycle went end-over-end and the motorcyclist flew off the bike," Sgt. Judith Williams said.

The rear tire of the pickup ran over the man as he lay in the middle of the intersection, officials said. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the Silverado fled the scene, witnesses said.

"It just kept going so me and some guy tried to chase after it and get a license plate, but we couldn't," witness Steven Duran said.

Anyone with information about the owner of the truck should contact Buena Park police at (714) 562-3902.
