TEMECULA (AP) — Ten people were injured in a crash of a tour bus that was headed from Los Angeles to an Indian casino in northern San Diego County, authorities said Monday.

A group of 18 people was aboard the bus when it careened off the road and crashed into some trees and boulders about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The 50-year-old driver and nine passengers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The most severe injury appeared to be a cut to the head, authorities said.

The 1996 bus was traveling to Casino Pauma, about 25 miles southeast of Temecula. The driver reported the bus suffered brake failure and was unable to stop as it entered a curve, smashing into a guard rail and then the trees and boulders. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be involved.

The incident remains under investigation.

The crash is the second involving a tour bus headed to an Indian casino in Southern California in the past 10 days.

More than 50 people were injured on Aug. 23 when a bus headed to the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino overturned along Interstate 210. Authorities said the bus driver made an unsafe lane change and sideswiped a car before crashing. The bus driver was properly licensed and wasn’t charged.
