2 Men In Their 20s Shot Dead In South Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed in a double shooting in South Los Angeles, authorities said Sunday.

The victims both sustained gunshot wounds to their heads in the shooting attack on 50th and Figueroa streets.

Police said the incident, which happened about 5 a.m., may have also involved a two-vehicle traffic collision. They responded to the location following a report of a collision.

Upon arrival, officers located two men in their 20's who were shot to death. One of the victims was found in the vehicle while the second was found on the roadway.

Gang investigators on scene told CBS2's Joy Benedict that the two men may have been mistaken for rival gang members.

However, police said they have no reason to believe that the victims were involved in gang activity.

Numerous suspects were being sought.

No further information was available.
