Friends, Strangers Gather To Support Family Grieving Loss Of 4-Year-Old Girl

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Friends and strangers gathered together in Ontario Saturday to support a family grieving the loss of a 4-year-old girl.

Breann Creer, 4, was killed Tuesday while riding on the back of a Harley-Davidson that was involved in a crash with a semi truck.

CBS2's Greg Mills attended the fundraiser and said many of the volunteers who came to wash bikes and cars never knew the little girl.

"This is a beautiful day and everybody is coming out to help us. It is amazing," said Amy Francis, one of the volunteers who did know the Creer family.

In fact, her twins were friends with Breann and her little brother.

"My twins still don't know [she's dead]. I don't know how to tell them that their best friend isn't here," said Francis.

One man came to have his bike cleaned, and it didn't need washing.

"Anything I can do to help the family, really, that is the reason I came out here," he said.

Friends of the family told Mills that Breann's mom is having a very rough time.

Her uncle, Gary Wing, drove down from Northern California to be with family.

"I was [emotionally] fine until I got here," says Wing, "but I am overwhelmed seeing all these people -- they don't know Breann or the family. I am just overwhelmed."

Several motorcycle groups put the fundraising effort together. They also had the help of the city of Ontario and the Citizens Business Bank Arena.

"Everybody feels for this family. We want to them have a happy outcome, financially at least," said Kimberly Salazar, a member of the Fallen Riders Foundation.

There was no charge to have a car or bike washed, but the crowd was very generous with their donations.

Mills said the bike/car wash started at 10 a.m. and few volunteers let up, even as the sun started heating up. By mid-afternoon, the group had washed more than 250 cars and 125 motorcycles.
