The Beauty of Evolution As Told In Cirque du Soleil’s Totem
By Nicole Cormier
Cirque du Soleil, popular for its daring acrobatics, stunning circus arts and world renowned entertainment value, has been touted as one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring shows ever made. In Los Angeles, there is never a shortage of amazing shows, but for Cirque amazing, book your tickets for TOTEM.
Cirque du Soleil’s TOTEM is one of the company’s newest touring shows and will hit the LA area in October 2013. Known for its detailed themes and intense evocation of the stories, TOTEM focuses on the evolution of man. Using myths, symbolism, science and spirituality, TOTEM tells the story of mans kinship with other creations, all with the acrobatic imagery that Cirque is known for.
Beyond the intense feats of strength and contour, the costumes are always over the top. In TOTEM, designer Kym Barrett used the costumes to evoke imagery of tribal wear, animal markings and seasonal weather. With many headpieces and masks, no detail was left undone. The intense romantic vibe that all Cirque du Soleil shows seem to exude is not lacking in TOTEM. When you bring your sweetheart to see a Cirque du Soleil show, it is guaranteed to be a date that will never be forgotten.
Venture to see TOTEM at one of the several Southern California locations in a machine that will evoke the same level of class and performance, like a 2013 C63 AMG Coupe from Mercedes-Benz of Encino.
