Heavy Rains, Flash Floods Reported In Riverside County

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Heavy rains and flash floods have been reported in northwestern Riverside County.

Several trees are reportedly down, several motorists have been stranded.

At least one tree, in the 5800 block of Normandie Place, crashed on top of a vehicle.

Tom Wait, reporting for CBS2, says 7,000 residents were without power.

The Riverside Public Information Officer also reported 1.3 inches of water fell on the area in one hour.

The Press-Enterprise has a photo of cars in a parking lot up to their headlights in water.

SKY9 was flying over the area and found lots of flooding around Mission and Vine Streets.

The flash flood warnings extend to San Bernardino County.

The National Weather Service detected heavy rain cells around the Forest Falls area, according to the newspaper.

The campus of Riverside City College is closed and night classes have been canceled.

No major injuries were reported.

The flash flood warnings remain in effect until at least 6 p.m.
