Suspect Allegedly Snatches Tarzana Girl From Her Bed, Tries To Sexually Assault Her

TARZANA (CBSLA.com) — A man allegedly snatched a 6-year-old girl from her bed in the middle of the night and attempted to sexually assault her earlier this week.

The incident happened early Monday at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Reseda Boulevard near Miranda Street.

Police said a man entered the first-floor apartment through an open patio door and took the victim from her top bunk bed.

The girl's mother said she woke up to her daughter's screams and cries for help.

"She was shaking. And she was just screaming, 'Don't go outside. Don't bring me outside. Turn on the light,'" she said.

The mom told KCAL9's Suraya Fadel that she saw her girl standing alone, wrapped in a blanket outside the patio.

"She said the guy was in a mask. She couldn't explain which kind, so she said looked like goggles," she said.

The girl suffered scratches and bruises.

The LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division/Sexual Assault Section is investigating the situation as an attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of a child.

"It's unbelievable. Six years I'm living here. You saw how many neighbors…they're all friendly. We're all together watching our kids. This is just something that I couldn't believe," said the victim's mother.

Authorities described the suspect as wearing a black and white mask, a dark shirt, black and red pants and dark boots.

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call (877)527-3247.
