Man Tied Up, Car Stolen In Playa Del Rey Home-Invasion Robbery

PLAYA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday were looking for two suspects who tied up a homeowner at gunpoint during a home-invasion robbery.

The robbery happened around 12 a.m. in the 7500 block of Vista Del Mar in Playa Del Rey, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

According to authorities, an elderly homeowner returned to his residence and began working on his computer when he realized two intruders were in his home.

"They approached, accosted him, demanded him to get on the ground at which time he complied," Sgt. Dennis Beacham said.

Police believe the male suspects entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door.

They tied up the homeowner and stole money, a rare coin collection, a hand gun and his white Mercedes SUV.

The vehicle was later found abandoned less than two miles away at the intersection of Jefferson and Lincoln boulevards with the help of GPS from a cell phone that was left inside, police said.

The suspects were described as two Black men. They are approximately 6 feet tall and were wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the crime should contact the LAPD.

The homeowner was not injured.
