The incident took place just after 6 a.m. on White Oak Avenue near Valerio Street, according to the Los Angeles Police.

"We believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. At what speed we don't know, certainly serious enough for the victim to be launched across the intersection, and then continue northbound leaving evidence behind," Bustos said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The LAPD Valley Traffic Division is conducting the investigation.

"If anybody in the area of Valerio and White Oak happens to see a vehicle, a [2000 to 2006] Nissan 300ZX, black in color with damage to the hood, the windshield and possibly the back window as well please contact us," Bustos added.

Anyone with information is being asked to call (877)LAPD-247.
