The suspect, identified by authorities as 35-year-old Eric David Robbins of Victorville, was arrested near his home about 3:30 p.m. Friday on suspicion of murdering Daniel Olivera of Hesperia.

The victim had completed his shift at the AM/PM Arco station in the 15700 block of Roy Rogers Drive when he was shot while standing outside and talking with the security guard around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 11.

When officers arrived, they determined that Olivera had been struck in his upper torso.

About forty minutes prior to the shooting, authorities believe the security guard had been involved in a verbal altercation with a male subject.

Authorities said tips from the public led them to Robbins who was subsequently booked at the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of murder.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Matthew Peterson or Sergeant Chris Fisher at (909) 387-3589.
