RivCo Couple Allegedly Killed Man Falsely Accused Of Molesting 4-Year-Old

BANNING (AP) — A Riverside County mother and her fiance are accused of killing a man they suspected of molesting the woman's 4-year-old daughter.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports that Brian Matheis and Amy Lou Daniel, both 30, have been charged with murder in the 2012 slaying of Joshua Lee Fredieu.

The girl had trouble urinating after a sleepover with Fredieu's daughter. Court records said Daniel tried to coach her daughter into saying that Fredieu molested her, and that Matheis shot the victim after asking him for a ride to go buy milk.

The girl was later taken for an exam but there was no evidence of a sexual assault.

Authorities identified Matheis as the gunman after he went to prison for hitting Daniel, and allegedly told an inmate that he killed Fredieu.
