Hazardous Chemical Fire Destroys 2 Businesses In Panorama City

PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA.com) — It took firefighters more than two hours to extinguish a fire that destroyed two businesses in Panorama City early Wednesday.

The fire broke out around 3:15 a.m. in the 14600 block of Arminta Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

More than 160 firefighters were sent to battle the blaze, which was extinguished at 5:25 a.m., officials said.

Aero Chrome Plating, a metal plating business, and Nationwide Displays, a banner company, were deemed a total loss, according to officials.

“Just going to have to start over again,” said Aero owner Gary Berger, whose same business caught fire at a different location several years ago.

No evacuations were ordered and no offsite hazards were identified due to the chemicals. There were no reports of any injuries.

It was unclear what sparked the fire.

Arson investigators responded to the scene.
