$50K Reward Offered In Rape, Murder Of Homeless Woman In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives hope a $50,000 reward will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person who raped and murdered a homeless woman in the downtown Los Angeles Fashion District three years ago.

Julie Souza, 53, was found dead under a blanket on Dec. 12, 2010, in the 200 block of East Olympic Boulevard. Police said she was beaten, raped and strangled.

At first, DNA evidence pointed to a man named Anthony Bryce Jones, but he was never arrested.

"He is a continuing person of interest," said Officer Sally Madera of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Anyone with information on the crime was asked to contact detectives Steven Eguchi and Greg Stearns of the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division at (213) 486-6890.
